Player Development

TIPS Performance Academy

What is It

The TIPS Performance Academy is a complete player development approach for youth soccer players motivated to enhance their baseline fundamentals of the game. TIPS is a proven training method developed by Ajax, a Dutch professional soccer club, renowned for its youth development program and ability to produce world-class talent. The club's player development philosophy has long been admired and studied by soccer enthusiasts, coaches, and clubs worldwide. These same methods are now brought to you with the TIPS Performance Academy.

How It Works

The TIPS Method

TIPS Stands for Technique, Insight, Personality & Speed. Sessions are broken up as follows to emphasis this holistic approach in the following way:

TECHNIQUE - On The Ball Dribbling, Passing & Shooting.

A player's ability on the ball mainly consists of three key Techniques: Dribbling, Passing, and Shooting. These form the foundation of a player's ability to execute while on the ball. Immersive Skill with low Ball-to-Player ratios and highly effective repetition drills are performed to instill these three key fundamental skill sets in a player, equipping and empowering players to solve their own soccer problems during free play.

INSIGHT - Small Group Activities (1v1, 2v1, 3v1, 3v2, 4v2, 2v2)

Insight refers to a player's understanding of the game, their tactical awareness, and their ability to read and react to situations by deciding to use the right skills set based on the situation on the field. It encompasses spatial awareness, decision-making, positioning, and anticipation. We enhance the tactical acumen of players by teaching them the principles of the game within Small Group activities such as 1v1, 2v1, 3v1, 3v2, 4v2, 2v2 drills with conditions based on the topic of the session.

PERSONALITY & SPEED - 4v4, 5v5 FREE PLAY

The TIPS Method is heavily influenced by the concept of "Total Football" - a style of play that emphasizes fluid movement, constant positional interchange, and possession-based soccer. This approach requires players to be technically proficient, tactically astute, and physically fit. During this part of the session, we give players some more freedom to apply what they learned in the TECHNICAL & INSIGHT part of the session and learn to play “Total Football”.

Personality & Speed

Personality and Speed are generally innate qualities but can both be positively influenced in the right environments. We encourage players to express their Personality with a winning mentality by improving their Work Ethic, Adaptability, Mental Toughness, Leadership, Focus, Confidence, Positivity, Coachability, Communication, Team-Work, Responsibility, Respect and Discipline. Speed is often thought of as only a physical part of the game, which it is, but it also consists of Technical Speed and Tactical Speed. A Slow Physical player can seem physically faster when they apply Technical and Tactical Speed.
