Personality & Speed

Personality and Speed are generally innate qualities but can both be positively influenced in the right environments. We encourage players to express their Personality with a winning mentality by improving their Work Ethic, Adaptability, Mental Toughness, Leadership, Focus, Confidence, Positivity, Coachability, Communication, Team-Work, Responsibility, Respect and Discipline. Speed is often thought of as only a physical part of the game, which it is, but it also consists of Technical Speed and Tactical Speed. A Slow Physical player can seem physically faster when they apply Technical and Tactical Speed.

Every player. Every minute. Every part of the game.

More touches on the ball.

With only four players per side and a lot less ground to cover, every player is directly involved in the action almost every minute — no standing around waiting for the ball to arrive.

More 1v1 moments.

Fewer players and more open space mean constant one-on-one duels — exactly where dribbling instincts, quick decisions, and confidence on the ball get built.

Every player attacks and defends.

There's no standing at fullback or spending the game in goal — every player experiences every part of the game, all day long.

More goals, more celebrations.

Small-sided formats naturally create more scoring chances, which means more shots, more goals, and more of the moments that make a kid fall in love with soccer.

It's how serious development happens, too.

Small-sided games are a foundation of youth soccer development at every level — this is the same style of play, just with a tournament, medals, and a DJ built around it.

A Day Built Around the Game

Dutch FC is bringing teams together for a one-day 4v4 tournament across 20 mini-fields — small-sided soccer that puts every player on the ball more, with more goals, more 1v1 moments, and more fun. Teams are placed into divisions by age and competitive level so every match is a fair match.

Whether your team plays travel, select, or recreational soccer, this tournament is built for players who just want to play.

Format & Rules

How the tournament works

  • 4v4 format, 12-minute halves (24-minute games)
  • Boys and girls, U5–U14, divided into divisions for fair competition
  • Maximum roster size: 8 players per team (minimum 3 players to avoid forfeit)
  • Every team plays a minimum of three preliminary-round games
  • Playoffs are single elimination; bracket format depends on division size
  • First- and second-place teams in each division receive Dutch FC medals
  • Simplified, fast-paced small-sided rules: no throw-ins (kick-ins instead), all restarts indirect, three-yard rule on dead balls

Tournament Day Experience

More Than a Tournament

Bring your team's spirit. Every team gets its own "home base" spot in our tent city for the day, and we're encouraging teams to build a theme for the event. Expect a DJ and emcee keeping the energy up between games, a Dutch FC spirit wear pop-up shop, concessions, and activities for younger siblings and family throughout the day.
